"Has No Right Sounding This Good," Says Stereophile
The Rega Fono is a high quality phono preamplifier that will bring new life to your stacks of vinyl. On the outside, Fono benefits from an extruded aluminum case that exudes styling smarts and has a compact footprint. On the inside, Fono boasts discrete-component engineering and RIAA accuracy of +/-0.2dB 100 Hz to 100 kHz. "A $395 MC phono section has no right sounding this good," reports Michael Fremer in Stereophile magazine. "The Fono MC will do the job. Ditto for the $295 Fono for MM."
"Sounds Very Good for the Money"
In its November 2004 "Phono Stage Shoot Out," EnjoyTheMusic.com suggests, "If you have already decided you are a low output moving coil type of listener, then you can also consider the Rega Fono MC, which offers the advantage or more control over the loading and sensitivity than the other units, and sounds very good for the money." Fono will amplify the signal from an MM cartridge to the appropriate level for a typical 200mV line level input. It connects very easily to the line input on your amplifier, and to the tonearm leads via the rear panel inputs.
The Rega Fono is a high quality discrete component phono preamplifier. Two types are available for use with either MM or MC cartridges. Like the Ear, the new Fono benefits from an all new extruded aluminium case and new styling giving it more of a family feel, to match its illustrious big brothers. The Fono simply connects to the line input on the amplifier, and the tonearm leads and earth (if used) to the input socket and earth terminal of the Fono back panel.
