The woofer owes its elite performance to its custom-designed cast-aluminum frame, fiber-impregnated cellulose cone, and huge high-temperature voice coils. The construction details create a powerful bass response and--in tandem with the midrange driver--a much more pleasing middle that extends well beyond the weak, distorted mids commonly associated with large-driver two-way speakers.
